During the pandemic our monthly meetings were held via ZOOM. Since resuming in-person monthly meetings we’ve expanded our ZOOM capability to include ZOOM access to most of our in-person meetings for those unable to attend in person. Here are videos of some of those meetings.

November 2024 – Dave Gunnarson, Rusty Rentsch, and Leo Cummings shared photos of Hershey 2024 AACA Swap Meet. Here is the presentation.

August 2023 – Jim Baker told us about what it took to make his 1931 Model A Town Sedan into a “Bullet Proof” touring car. He and Connie have driven the car on extended tours throughout the United States and Canada, including from the top of Pike’s Peak to the bottom of the Grand Canyon. They also driven the Model A on extended tours in Europe and Australia. This ain’t your average Model A!

July 2023 – A pictorial recap by NVRG members of their experiences at the Early V-8 Club of America’s Diamond Anniversary Grand National Meet held June 11-17, 2023 in Dearborn, Michigan.

October 2021 – We all know the Hershey Region AACA Swap Meet and Car Show was cancelled last year. Here’s PowerPoint with some images of what members saw this year.

June 2021 – Dave Gunnarson provided an in depth presentation about Henry Ford and his Richmond Hill residence. We all know of Henry’s winter residence in Fort Meyers, Florida, but how many of us know about Richmond Hill, a 120 square mile property in remote Georgia where Henry built a mansion and entire village to support it?

May 2021 – Stan Johnson provided a detailed explanation of how he restored a badly damaged 1932 Ford column drop bracket he’s installed in his 59AB-powered 1930 Model A Roadster.

March 2021 – Jim LaBaugh inherited a 1939 Deluxe Woodie from his father. At our March meeting he described the odyssey both he, and the Woodie, have been on over the years.

March 2021 – Dave Westrate walked us through what it took to reproduce an entirely new wood body for his 1939 Deluxe Woodie. He crafted 107 individual pieces of wood that included cutting 32 intricate finger joints.

February 2021 – Noted Naval analyst Norman Polmar talked about Russian Submarines and Cold War Surprises. Not about Flatheads but extremely interesting just the same.

Social Events

Our Social Events at monthly meetings include family favorites like our annual Ice Cream Social. We also have movie nights which include vintage Hollywood movies, current movies featuring Ford V-8s and documentaries such as Ken Burns’ Horatio’s Drive, the saga of the first person to drive an automobile across the US.

show and tell programs

At show and tell programs members get a chance to show other members Ford ephemera, tools, prized or rare parts but also auto “snake oil” like the D-Skidder shown here. This device was supposed to mount in your trunk with the tube exiting just in front of your rear wheel. It had a release cable installed on the dash that you pulled dumping sand in front of your rear tire.

technical programs

Both NVRG members and outside guest speakers provide info on all aspects of our hobby. What’s the best fire extinguisher? Here’s information about Columbia rear axles. All you ever wanted to know about Virginia license plates from the earliest to the mid-50s. What you need to know about window “bugs” and how to do it. Shoe box Ford overdrives. Lubricants to keep everything running smoothly. In the picture Keith Lee, owner of Knob Soup demonstrates how he makes reproduction steering wheels.
