Want to make a completely new wood body for your Woodie? Dave has built two, that’s right, TWO complete wood bodies for his 1939 Ford Woodies. He built the first one for his ’39 Standard before the wonders of digital videos. Watch what it took to craft 107 individual wood body pieces from hard maple stock for the Deluxe. He then had to drill all the holes through for the door handles, body brackets, etc., and also for the 654 wood screws. Finally, he applied 6 to 8 coats of marine spar varnish!
LaBaron-Bonney has gone out of business and you need to re-upholstery the seats in your ’39 Deluxe Woodie in genuine leather. What are you going to do? Dave actually did it himself. Watch Dave describe all the things he did from stripping the seats frames, to making the patterns and doing a trial run using canvas, to cutting the hides and finally stitching and covering the seats and redoing the sun visors. The video was shot and produced by Dave’s grandson, Isaac Barnes.
